Home Robberies Shock Crystal Cove Residents

The relative calm of Crystal Cove was shattered recently by two bold home robberies.

You know those imposing gates and guard shacks that drive the association dues toward $700 per month in Crystal Cove?  Apparently, these amenities are of limited effect in keeping crime out.

Rumors are flying about the crimes and while it may be the talk of residents and at local real estate offices, no one apparently is eager to publicize this in the news because it could further depress Crystal Cove home values.  The rumor is that two homes on Sidney Bay Drive were "cleaned out" by robbers using trucks.  Virtually everything is said to have been taken.  One of the homes was for sale.  It is unknown if the other home was a vacation home or if the residents were simply away from their home.   In Crystal Cove, many of the homes are vacant or used sparingly, so there are less neighbors who can report suspicious activities - apparently allowing the robbers to clean out entire homes, furniture and all, without being noticed. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

doesn't the gate guard record license plates or have video for all visitors?

Anonymous said...

Of course there is a video system.

This is the FOX News of CC.

Time to find another cause.

Anon, yes there are video cameras at the entrances. There are also several houses that have been robbed. Wonder if the cameras were turned on or if the robbers just used stolen license plates on the truck.

All I can say is that you ARE FULL OF CRAP.....

I took the time to do something you neither have the brains or balls to do. I called the Newport Beach Police Department. Spoke with the very nice detective.

3 incidents, 2 with NO reported losses. 1 with a loss of some small jewerly.

Like I said, you are the FOX NEWS of Kristal Cove.

Ouch.....another reason why almost nobody reads your BS.

Censorship?

Funny how when I posted the truth about the home robberies, you take down the truth.....

You are full of crap.

Called the police department, got the real information from the detective.

2 out of three homes reported no losses, and the last one had small jewerly taken.

Once again, Blue, your credibility is nothing...

Go call the police and get the right information.

Anon...."Take down" "Fox news" - it is your vulgar and paranoid comments that have no credibility. I didn't remove any comments. Blogger has been unavailable the last few days - don't know what they did - perhaps a reboot to prior versions of posted blogs.

In any event, on the home burglary news - you may have spoken to someone on the phone about something, but the fact is that I heard the burglary reports from 5 or so people who are smart, credible residents of Crystal Cove. Why would they lie? I did check the Newport Beach police statistics for the area including Crystal Cove - there were 8 home burglaries in 2010. So nothing I have posted is outlandish. I continue to post information that real estate agents wish was concealed, but is very helpful to potential buyers.

I think if your blog is nothing more then blow-hard blogging you should call the police department and get the right information.....

Your report was about three robberies where you have reported a specific event.

Either its correct or not.

You should do us all a favor and get your facts correct.

Again, the simple truth that any buyer would care about is "what are my potential new neighbors saying about the neighborhood?"

Well, in this instance, they are saying that homes were just burglarized. I would want to know this if I was a buyer. So that is why I reported it.

There seems to be a rush to judgement based on some anonymous call to the NBPD. Who says the crimes were even reported to the NBPD by Crystal Cove security? Why would they do that? So that it would end up in the newspaper?

What a lame response.

Even in Crystal Cove people who are victims of crime call the police.

You have reported that the houses were "cleaned out".

Do you think if houses were "cleaned out" the owners would not want to notify insurance company? Insurance company needs a police report.

I stand-by my earlier statement. FOX NEWS of Kristal Cove.

You dont have the balls to call the police and get the facts. You prefer to select your "facts" based on your personal agenda, or lack of finances. Not clear which one.

You really show your true colors on this one....

The robberies have been confirmed with the Crystal Cove management office. Oddly, one family did not file a police report. So there you have it - Crystal Cove residents know it happened. The management office knows that it happened. So it happened.

So what if some clerk you called at NBPD didn't see it on his computer list at the time you called. You have no idea what list he was looking at and what date range he was using. I wouldn't be surprised if NBPD didn't even know that the other house was cleaned out - because police "investigations" sometimes do not happend and if they do, they often miss huge clues.
